Allen Gardner, 41, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, in a local hospital, surrounded by his family.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur. Allen enjoyed spending time with his family, organizing family events, cooking, baking, supporting his kid's activities, and was a jack of all trades. He was a member of Maplewood First Baptist Church. Before his illness, Allen served as the general manager of Checker's Restaurant.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur. Allen enjoyed spending time with his family, organizing family events, cooking, baking, supporting his kid's activities, and was a jack of all trades. He was a member of Maplewood First Baptist Church. Before his illness, Allen served as the general manager of Checker's Restaurant.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Monique Wheat Gardner of Sulphur; his children, Makaila Gardner and Bryce Gardner; his mother, Robbie Hargrove of Sulphur; step-father, Buddy Trahan of Missouri; siblings, Jana Trahan, Sarah Bushnell, and Jessica Laughlin Moulds, all of Sulphur, and Ace Chandler of DeRidder; aunts and uncles, Sheryl Ortego, Steven Gardner, Karen Franklin, Myra Culter, Kenneth Gardner, Brent Gardner, James Higginbotham, and Dwayne Higginbotham; his father and mother-in-law, Jeff and Linda Wheat; and numerous cousins and extended family. He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Laughlin; and grandmother, Marilyn Higginbotham.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 12, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Blocker will officiate. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
